Single Door
Does this sound right? Is there a cheaper way to get a single door installed?

I want to replace an old door that measures 34” x 80” and is 2” thick. At the local Lowe’s I saw a door that measured 34” x 80” for $280 and installation $320. I also liked a screen that was around $280. and installation $120.
I was told that I had to pay $40, non refundable but applied to order for someone to come measure my doorways.
I am being told that the doorway measures 34.5” x 80.5” and the door way is 5” wide, in which the universal width is 4”. The sales person states that I have to special order the door and screen that will cost $698 for each the door and screen and the installation will increase greatly.
Does this make sense? (I got an estimate to make a wider opening and install a better quality glass sliding door that is cheaper than trying to install a single door and screen via Lowe’s!)

Shop around. However make sure whomever you choose is licensed and bonded. Take a look at their past work, also check out the other big box store, Home Depot.One thing that Lowe's or Home Depot has over other contractors, especially the shady ones, is that you know you'll have some sort of recourse if your not happy with the project.

identify this spider for me..meaty black with a single white dot on back,found in my home.cant find on the net

There are very few spiders in North America that you should be concerned about with your pet, namely the brown recluse and black widow being the most famous (even though only 20% of the population actually has an adverse reaction to brown recluse venom and even far fewer even know what one even looks like. The good news is that both the black widow and brown recluse are non-agressive if just left along and rarely travel in traffic areas of you home. One of the main methods of training your dog is to keep a certain consistency in your approach towards him. Keep your intonations, gestures and words for expressing dissatisfaction the same every time, so that he gets used to the idea easily. A young pup who grows up with a certain set of commands will respond to them more promptly than one who is frequently confused by conflicting orders. The more consistent your commands are, the better trained your dog is, the better trained your dog is the greater your confidence in him regarding his obedience to you. A few other ways of establishing consistency are to use the same door when taking your doggie out for a walk, give him the same kind of pat every night before retiring for the day, so that he knows exactly what time it is.

Little things like these will help you predict your dog's behavior more accurately. Most importantly, however, remember to shower your love and affection on the little one, continue your training through little games which he might enjoy, and remember to treat him every time he does a task well, after all like a child it too needs to be appreciated and given its bit of fun.
