Rabbit Cage Question???

So I have a Mini Rex that is a bit bigger for a Mini Rex (fatty!!!) and she has a four foot HUGE cage. I am getting a French Lop (huge frenchie baby!) and she is going to need a need a cage. I only have a 50$ dollar spending limit but she needs a large cage! Dog kennels or cat kennels work fine too but could you help me find a large rabbit cage that is within a 50$ spending limit??? Let's talk about how to make a bunny happy! (Because you have to admit, when they're happy, we're happy too!)

First things first. How do you know when your bunny is happy? Bunnies love to show it! If your bunny flops on her side and just lies there with her eyes closed, you'll know all is right with her world. She might scare you the first time she does this, and it's not uncommon for a new bunny owner to think something is wrong. Don't worry. Your bunny is just telling you she's happy. It's the happy flop.

Then there's the binky. If your bunny binkies, you know she's on top of the world. Binkies are crazy happy dances. Your bunny will hop in the air, twirl her head and spin around then maybe start running at top speed. Any bunny owner will attest to the great joy it brings to see their bun or buns do the binky dance.

Now, how to keep your bunny content? First and foremost is attending to her chewing needs. Bunnies absolutely love to chew. Phone books are popular with bunnies who love to shred the pages, so make sure you keep all of your old phone books (you might even ask your friends and family for theirs.) A bunny can go through a phone book pretty quickly.

Toilet paper and paper towel rolls are also safe and popular chew toys for bunnies. To make it even more fun, you can take a roll and stuff hay inside for them to dig out.

Boxes and paper bags are also a great source of entertainment for bunnies. You can fill the paper bag with hay, or just put an open paper bag on the floor for the bunnies to crawl into and dig. You'll be surprised at how long they can entertain themselves by playing with the bag.

Cardboard boxes are also an incredibly easy source of entertainment. Take a fairly large box and cut several doorways and windows into it. (Bunnies always prefer to have at least two entrances.) Your bunny will love to go in and dig, chew (making the doorways or windows bigger) and hide away. It's also a great place to put your bunny's haywhich she can eat as well as dig. You can also securely tape a bunch of cardboard boxes together, so the bunnies can run through them and play.

Use your imagination and creativity, and you'll find there are endless ways to turn everyday cardboard boxes into a playground for your bunnies.

remote control dog barriers?

I am looking for a dog containment device that works like a 'wedlock' system. If the dog goes further than a preset distance from the emitter, he gets a correction. If he continues out of range he gets a light shock, etc.I work on farms near roads and take him with me. I don'tt want to have to keep him tied up as he really needs the run. He's just a pup and needs it!! I tried Innotek but no avail.

Any ideas?

Dog Houses are a must for today's modern, hard-working dog lovers.

In our office alone, there's certainly been a lot of talk and boasting about the latest insulated dog house, wooden log cabin dog house, even the plastic igloo type dog house and the all singing and dancing designer dog house and in general the sense of "one-upmanship" when a new purchase has been made.

We have to cage/kennel our dog?

who is a 4 year old boxer EVERY time we leave. If not she'll potty in the house and destroy it. When were home she's a great dog tells you when she has to go out and is a very well behaved dog it's just when we leave her. I personally think she has separation anxiety and thats why she acts the way she does when we leave. The thing is we want to help a friend and take there boston terrier but we don't want to have to lock him up. Is there a way to break our very bad dog so we can welcome more pets into our family? I HATE locking her up but I don't have a choice as of right not.
We have a HUGE yard and our boxer gets plenty of exercise. She is NEVER locked up more than 8 hours. The boston has to do with it cause I don't want to have to cage one dog and not the other. I think thats cruel. My goal is to break the boxer so I don't have to cage her. I would like the old and new dog to roam the house. But I can't trust the boxer. The boston has NEVER been caged.

My male aussie has been breaking out of his kennel and urinating on my bed & furniture after a move. Help?

We recently moved into a new house. just when I thought he might be settling in - he started even worse behavior. he has always had a kennel (wire/see through) & seemed to enjoy "his" space. He has become obsesive with play time(won't put the frisby down and come in) and now is urinating in the middle of my bed. (not "marking", but saturating) and furniture.
I have tried longer walks & exercise & affection, eventrying "calming" aids from Fosters and Smith. And have not had much luck. He is a family pet & loved very much - but I am out of ideas and at my witts end. Any suggestions? Please help!

How long do you have to crate a dog before its house broken?

wondering how long you'll have to kennel/crate a 1yr old dog before she gets the hang of pottying outside!! & outside ONLY. She has some of it down but isn't consistent. What's average for how long it takes them to get the hang of it? Should I just give a little more freedom, little by little? Thank you!!
I will add that I am using gating her in the kitchen only as an aid and do have her on a 2 meals/day feeding schedule and take her out regularly. I realize crating isn't the training only preventative measure. I just meant how long does the whole process take before they catch on. Thanks guys

The dog should be crated only when you can't watch her. The crate doesn't train the dog, it only prevents accidents. You stil have to take the dog outside on a consistent schedule and praise when she goes where she's supposed to.

The answer to your question is: You crate a dog UNTIL it is housebroken. Not the other way around.

13 week old puppy is only quiet when in his crate and covered with a blanket. When I leave I'd like to allow him free in the kitchen (puppy proofed) but he won't shut up there, unless crated.

I understand your desire to give your pup a larger area to play while you are gone BUT maybe the area is too large for him right now. Try a smaller area, put the crate in there for a bed, a couple of blankies on the floor, a couple of stuffed animals to cuddle up too.
If it needs to be the kitchen, try working in there and go in and out with the pup contained in. Make your out times longer. And see if the pup gets more acclimated
So you have all the essentials - food, water, bed, toys, blankies and cuddles...
You have puppy proofed and you will find more.
Give multiple times for potty breaks and give them a place in the kitchen for - just in case.
I have one that has the run of the house and she still goes and gets into her crate when I leave.

In the wild, dogs and wolves live in personally dug dens more often than in caves. The area has space for the pack members to enter and for each individual to have an assigned spot to sleep. There is little room, but the animals are secure and unafraid. It is their place of refuge and rest!

One of the things that makes crate training a puppy harder is that dogs naturally sleep together, not alone. Separation from the litter is, therefore, difficult for a puppy. Then when you, her new pack leader, leave her alone for long or for short, that can cause further feelings of separation anxiety. A place of security is one key in solving this.

I was well aware of such problems before I purchased my eight week old Labrador Retriever puppy. I determined before I brought her home that puppy crate training would be necessary until I could trust her alone in the house. So I purchased a dog crate and simple fleece blanket-liner.

When I first brought my pup inside, I only allowed her to smell the areas of the house in which she would initially be kept. Until she had clearly completed her puppy potty training, she was not going to be loose in the house. She certainly would not be unsupervised until she was past the puppy chewing phase, either.

I placed three of the puppy's favorite toys in the kennel. Two or three toys is the right number for comfort and to reduce boredom, but more than that causes confusion and add to the anxiety. At the front of the cage I placed a sturdy bowl of fresh water.

I covered the top, back, and three sides of the dog kennel with a folded, light-weight, cotton bedspread to make it snuggly and secure-feeling, like a den. Her "safe place." (As a side benefit, that also made it more attractive for the house.) You can use any sheet, beach towel, fabric, or buy a kennel cover. There are some impressive crate accessories, covers, and liners on the market, including some insulated ones for colder climates.

I placed my little Lab in her puppy crate the first night. For three days, she cried when left alone there. After that, though, she only woke me up when she had a need to go wee or potty. Then I whisked her out promptly and placed her on the grass to do her business. That made puppy house training a cinch, and we only had two or three accidents in the house Â– ever!

The manner in which you do things is as critical as the act itself. I was very careful to put my puppy into the cage nonchalantly Â– not with hugs and kisses. The more precise you are, the easier it is to get what you want from a dog.

The most important thing to remember is not to let your puppy out of the dog crate when she is crying (unless, of course, she has a real need to go). She must have boundaries from the start. Boundaries give her security, and boundaries give you necessary respect and control as Owner and Master, her "Pack Leader."

Crate training a puppy may be a little bumpy at the start, but it sure is a great help Â– with reducing dog separation anxiety, puppy chewing, puppy potty training, protecting your house, and so much more! So give your cuddly little one the comfort and security she wants and needs. Give her a "safe den" of her own. She will learn to love it and run to it as though to proclaim: "It's MY den!"

Kennel Travel

How big a kennel do I need for a 7-8 pound puppy. I'm just transporting her about 75 miles.?

I was given a puppy for my birthday but I have to travel to Rock Hill SC to pick her up. She is a 6 week old German Wirehair Pointer and the breeder says she will only weigh seven or eight pounds. I need to know what size travel kennel I need just for the transport. Thanks for any advise.

Just big enough to lay in till she gets home. Just let them out to go potty a couple times and for lots of kisses!
