Citronella collar spray stops barking in many dogs. These collars apparently do not stop barking in all dogs. Let's face it, there are some real hard heads out there. The MultiVet Anti-Bark Spray Collar, Citronella was the one we ordered and tested. The test subject was our high energy field type English Cocker Spaniel. No way we would subject this dog to a shock collar. She just needed to know that the barking was getting out of hand. The collar is only used occasionally. For the most part the spray collar isn't on and when it is on only part of the time is it armed. The dog learned that barking overly much was not desired. She took the hint and shut up most of the time. We didn't want her to quit barking. We just wanted her to control it.
