Does hair grow at a different rate at different stages of life?

Does it grow faster on a baby? Slower once you're over 50? Does adolescence affect it?

I've done some reasearch and know that it grows about 0.44cm a day, 1/2 an inch a month and 15cm (6 inches) a year. I also know that pregnancy and trimming speed up growth, but by how much?

Any information would be appreciated! Links are good too, thanks a lot.

My wife is a cosmetologist and she says that yes, you are on the right track and hair does grow at different speeds throughout your life.

Your hair on an average changes every seven years, that's why some people go from curly to straight and vice versa.

As far as speed of growth, that depends completely on the individual, although hormones, diet, and overall health also are contributing factors in growth rate.
