How do I shave my dog using Wahl pro grooming kit?

I recently bought a Wahl pro grooming kit for my cocker spaniel and I have no idea how to use it. He is matted in very hairy areas such as the under arm and outer ear. How do I get the matts out? the instructional video said that I have to get the matt out before I shave him. Do I just cut it out with the scissor?

I'm not going for the cocker spaniel look. I want him cleanly shaved.

They meant for the mats to be brushed out. With those model kits it is difficult to get a good groom like at the shop since we use a different clippers & blades. The safest way is to shave the area however with the proper blade which is not included in your kit. Using scissors close to that area is only asking for the dog to get cut. Try cutting just the longer hair - not close - then brush it out. Dogs generally hate that area being brushed & clipped since it is sensitive & thin skin easily cut/injured. Go slowly & carefully.

Housetraining can be a very difficult training task for many dog owners. Just when they think their dog is housetrained, the dog has an accident. In this article you'll discover a little known, but very effective housetraining technique.

A very important part of housetraining is keeping a constant eye on your dog. When you can't watch your dog, you should confine your dog to a crate. When your dog is out of the crate, you should keep a very close watch over your dog. A leash can help you accomplish this.

Attach a leash to your dog's collar. Tie or clip the other end of the leash to your belt or belt loop.

This is often referred to as umbilical cord training and it is very useful for dogs that are having a difficult time with the housetraining.

With your dog attached to you, your dog has to follow you from room to room. If your dog starts to squat or lift their leg, you are in the perfect position to interrupt your dog and bring her right outside.

Once you are outside, you are still there with your dog to reward your dog for eliminating in the right place. A lot of dog owners make the mistake of letting their dogs out without them. If you are not there with your dog, you don't have the opportunity to reward your dog for going in the proper place.

Umbilical cord training is also great for dogs that have chewing problems. By using this simple technique you will be able to keep a close eye on your dog and finally housetrain your dog.
